The Wedding Guest's Robe
Hazrat Isa# said:

The heavenly kingdom is like a man who is a king, who prepares a wedding banquet for his son, and sends his bonded servants to call to the wedding banquet those who had been invited, but they do not want to come.

So he sends out more servants, saying, "Tell those who have been invited, 'See, I have prepared my wedding breakfast: my oxen and my fattened animals have been killed, everything is ready: come to the wedding banquet'". But they ignore it, and go their own ways, one to his farm, another to his business and the rest assault, ridicule and murder his servants.

Now when the king hears this, he is livid. He despatches his soldiers, destroys the murderers, and burns their town to the ground.

Then he says to his servants, "The wedding banquet is sumptuously prepared, but those who were invited were not worthy of it, so go to the city gates, and invite everyone you find there to the banquet."

So these servants go out to the main roads and bring together everyone they find, both bad and good, and the banquet is filled with guests.

Now when the king comes in to see the guests, he notices that a man is there who is not dressed in the banquet robe.* He says to him "Friend, how did you come to be in here without the wedding banquet robe?" The man is dumb struck.

Then the king says to the attendants, "Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him outside into the darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth, because many are called, but few are selected".

[Matthew 22:2-14]
